Deep Recovery foam rollers & track

Cassie Floreno

I have come to view exercise and recovery as part of my job. Just as important as learning new techniques, being present during my sessions, and taking thorough notes…without exercise and recovery I would be an ineffective therapist, and eventually burn out of the industry. That may sound dramatic, but with a burnout average of 7 years, my career could be cut very short without my self-care practices.

Foam rolling has been something I’ve struggled to maintain. In the past I have found it boring and difficult to get an effective release without over-exerting other muscles, which can feel like it’s defeating the purpose. Using only one size and density of foam roller… I lacked the diversity and knowledge needed to reach certain musculature and fascia. Deep Recovery reached out to Dustin Palmer Bodywork & Massage to test their products out in return for an honest review.

Here’s how it went…

I put off watching the videos for a few days and just sort of discovered the rollers myself. I liked the diversity but I still felt like I probably wasn’t using them correctly. I finally decided to utilize the videos and I’m so happy I did! It makes a huge difference. I went through each body area over a span of a few days, spending about 30 minutes rolling out each day and I predict this is going to be a regular part of my regimen. I could tell an immediate difference with the tension that my job produces. I like that I have specific instruction, multiple options and sizes for different areas of the body, and that the videos are short and targeted to specific areas. Deep Recovery takes away any excuses you have to not use a foam roller. It’s no replacement for massage, in my opinion, but is an excellent maintenance tool for between sessions and to help alleviate delayed-onset muscle soreness after particularly intense work-outs.

The techniques and suggestions are great, and they make a point to explain correct body mechanics and posture, which I really appreciate as a therapist. It helps make it easier and safer for beginners and more effective for intermediate/advanced exercisers. I like that they have options for different size people, they really make sure you get the most out of your rollers. I can’t imagine myself carrying the large track around on vacations, but the cylindrical rollers are definitely travel size and I’m looking forward to bringing them up north with us over the summer to keep the routine going.
